Music Editing

The heartbeat of an edit

I have a passion for music in my life and my work. Here you’ll find sizzle reels, music videos, and trailers. I’ve been playing music for over 20 years, and though I’ve never gotten good at playing music, I have developed an ability to edit music and edit to music. In most of these edits, I’ve actually edited the music itself to make it fit perfectly and create emotion.

What the artist said about this music video: Seeing this video left me *almost* speechless. We made this song about going back to your hometown and showing your girlfriend or boyfriend all the intimate landmarks of your youth. So I asked my friend Jerry Spears, who grew up down the road from me (and now does commercial and film work in LA), to make a video for it. He happened to be sitting on a bunch of unseen mini-dv cassettes full of home movies his stepdad had shot in the Nineties. He digitized the tapes (which include me tackling him playing football in the show) and then brought it full-circle by going home and getting new footage at the old trailer on Pearsall Road, which is empty now, and also B-roll of his family – a few decades older than they are in the original tapes. Beautiful, genuine, powerful nostalgia – brought a goddamn tear to my eye. I hope everyone taking a sweetheart home for the holidays gets some time to point out the car window and say “This is where…”
